What We Will Need to Register Your Business for Payroll & PAYE

To successfully register your business for PAYE (Pay-As-You-Earn) with SARS and set up compliant payroll, please prepare the following e-documents:

1. Business Registration Documents

Provide your CIPC company registration documents (or registration certificate if a close corporation or sole proprietor).

2. SARS Tax Reference Number

Your company’s Income Tax reference number issued by SARS. If your business is not yet tax registered, your personal tax number (for sole proprietors) will be required.

3. Bank Account Confirmation

Business bank account details, including a recent bank statement or a stamped bank confirmation letter (not older than 3 months).

4. Proof of Business Address

A recent proof of the registered business address (utility bill, lease agreement, or municipal statement, not older than 3 months).

5. Responsible Person’s Details

Certified copy of the ID/passport and proof of residential address of the director, owner, or public officer responsible for PAYE compliance.

6. Employee Details (If Available)

Names, ID/passport numbers, income details, and start dates of current employees (if already employed). If you don’t yet have employees, registration can still be completed.

Important: All documents must be scanned clearly and uploaded in PDF or JPEG format. Certified copies must be signed and stamped by a Commissioner of Oaths, notary public, or an authorised police officer in South Africa.

Compliance with SARS Regulations: These documents are required by the South African Revenue Service (SARS) to register your business for PAYE and ensure your payroll system is legally compliant for tax deductions and employee submissions.
